Qualifications and Experience

Hannah gained a distinction for her Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music Teaching Diploma (DipABRSM) and also studied Teaching Skills as part of her BMus degree course at The Royal College of Music.  She now has over seven years of varied teaching experience.  Hannah completed the Lambeth Council Level One Child Protection Training in January 2010 and is committed to working within the procedures and guidelines of this training.

 

Private Teaching

Hannah teaches at home in East London, but is also able to travel to most areas within central London. She teaches adults as well as children, of all standards, including beginners. Her pupils currently range from age 7 to adult, and from total beginners to grade 7.

 

School Teaching

Hannah currently teaches individual Cello lessons at Streatham and Clapham High School Junior Department, which is part of the Girls' Day School Trust.  Hannah has previously worked at Fulham Prep School and for Tower Hamlets Music Service, Lewisham Music Service and Barking and Dagenham Music Service, where she taught individuals and small groups in primary and secondary schools on a weekly basis. She taught on Saturday mornings at Deptford Music Centre for four years, where she assisted with orchestral rehearsals, as well as individual and group teaching.  Hannah has led and assisted with whole class Cello and Violin teaching in primary and secondary schools with pupils as young as 5 years old.

 

Teaching style and Methods

Hannah is a committed and organised teacher, who strongly believes in teaching all pupils as individuals. She uses a broad range of teaching methods and materials to suit the different learning styles of her pupils, from reading music from books to learning by ear, improvising and composing.

 

Performances and Examinations

Hannah regularly helps pupils to prepare for performances, such as school concerts and GCSE or A level Music performances. Many of her pupils enjoy working for the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music examinations, and she is experienced in preparing pupils for all aspects of these exams, including the Aural and Theory elements. All her pupils have passed so far, with many gaining merits and distinctions.
